Get the ball rolling! - Opening Party with Nina Ryser (USA) and Happy Fuji Film (BE)

The Opening Super Concert of the Season @ Super Fourchette

Let's have a meat-ball!

Nina Ryser, who's touring Europe this fall, will stop by to try the above mentioned. Originally from Philadelphia, we know her mostly from Palberta (“PEGA’s sisters from across the sea”, as César put it in the past). We have been trying to put them on since before COVID, so this is a very special way to “Get the ball rolling” for the Super Concert season 2024/2025.
Another ex-Palberta, Ani Ivry-Block, will be accompanying her, with an electric accordion (! first time we hear of that instrument ! ).

Our local act “Happy Fuji Film” is a proto cinematic project made up of 300 hand printed engravings carved by Eric Kinny, animated by hand with the accompaniment of music and dialogue by local musicians and voice actors. It tells the story of a disillusioned tourist guide at the fool of Mt. Fuji.

Let’s get the giant meatball rolling. Nothing can stand in its way!

***Nina Ryser (USA) experimental no wave pop***

Nina Ryser is a Philadelphia-based musician and composer. Her work has been performed by ensembles at the New England Conservatory of Music and SUNY Purchase, and by the American Symphony Orchestra at Bard College. Her lifelong dedication to DIY-music has culminated in seven albums of her solo experimental-pop project, all of which she performed, engineered and mixed in her home recording studio. She has toured throughout the US and Canada with this project, accompanied by different instrumentalists. Over the years Nina has played in too many bands to count, Palberta being one of them – an art-punk trio from 2013-2023, whose 8 full-length records were released to critical acclaim by the New York Times, NPR Music, Rollingstone and Pitchfork. Nina currently plays drums in the band @, and is working on a synth-based score for a short sci-fi film, as well as a multi-instrumental score for a feature-length film. In September, she will be touring in Europe in support of her upcoming solo record on Dear Life Records, accompanied by Ani Ivry-Block (of Palberta).
