Markus Nikolai Live! (Perlon) James Dean Brown (Perlon) James Dean Brown, living/working in Berlin, Frankfurt/Main and Paris, is deeply rooted in the adventuresome Perlon family, and a DJ regular in the rotating line-up of their monthly, infamous "Get Perlonized" parties at Panorama Bar since 2001. He produces as Narcotic Syntax (w/ Yapacc) and performs live as Hypnobeat (w/ Helena Hauff). For the 2nd edition of his bi-monthly residency at Badaboum he managed to convince no one less than Markus Nikolai to be his guest and perform one of his rare live sets! Imagine, he didn't play in France since 2006. Founder of the Perlon label beside Zip, Markus Nikolai has always presented his own definition of dance music, straddling the boundaries of Deep House with a twist and a sophisticated form of Techno. The man of sonic ventures is comfortable knowing that from the background he plays a major role in the global dance scene. A visionary in the most honest sense of the word, he is able to consistently create something different from the mainstream musical flood while producing records that DJs enjoy and utilize. In 1992, Zip joined one of Markus' first production outfits, Bigod 20 (which also included Front 242 vocalist Jean-Luc De Meyer), a relationship that would become one of his most resourceful and symbiotic. Two years later the 1st SuPERLONgevity compilation was released; it featured Nikolai's "Bushes", a track that has since garnered chart-topping remixes from the likes of Derrick Carter and Fatboy Slim. His sets usually follow an approach of serious deepness, psychedelia and voodoo. JDB's desire is getting the crowd back to the adventurous aspect of partying: experiencing the surprise moment, getting into a state of excitement, celebrating sensuality. Going out should evoke some kind of expedition feel rather than end up being a service under medication. The party situation one should expect today is: make it appear more dangerous… Interview: http://www.meoko.net/interviews/meoko-pays-a-visit-to-james-dean-brown-s-jukebox Videoclips http://tinyurl.com/n3p7prs
