Qui dit qu’il est impossible de danser sur du jazz moderne? Sûrement pas le Liberati Quartet!

Depuis ses débuts en 2015, le groupe a une mission claire : vous faire bouger. Les mélodies complexes sont combinées à un groove entrainant, assaisonnées de paysages sonores abstraits, épicées ça et là par un gros riff blues et servi avec l’explosivité de quatre jeunes lions.

Imaginez Chris Potter Underground rencontrer Dali ou Kurt Rosenwinkel dans un atelier clandestin. Attendez vous à de l’énergie, de l’aventure et surtout du groove. Ajoutez à ça un goût prononcé pour le risque et vous obtenez la recette parfaite du concert réussi. Le Liberati Quartet est composé des virtuoses Edoardo Liberati à la guitare et Jesse Schilderink au sax ténor, Denis Baeten à la batterie et Marijn Van De Ven à la contrebasse assurent leurs arrières, mais les relations au sein du groupe sont loin d’être fixes : elles se disputeront sur scène.

Après trois années de succès (enregistrement de deux EP, premier prix au Erasmus Jazz Prize, participation au North Sea Jazz Festival, tournée dans toute l'Europe, première partie du groupe « Ploctones »), le groupe est à maturité pour son premier album.

Celui-ci sortira au printemps 2019 et combinera jazz moderne, abstraction, groove et liberté musicale.

Who said you can’t dance to modern jazz? One thing is for sure, it wasn’t the Liberati Quartet.

Since the band started in 2015, they’ve had a clear mission: to rock the house. Complex melodies are combined with heavy grooves, seasoned with abstract soundscapes, spiced up with a fat blues lick here and there, and served with the explosiveness of four young lions.

Think Chris Potter Underground meets Dali, Kurt Rosenwinkel in a sweatshop. Expect lots of energy, adventure, and most of all: groove. Add to that a deep urge to go outside the box, and you’ve got a perfect recipe for a great gig. Liberati Quartet consists of vituosos Edoardo Liberati on guitar and compositions and Jesse Schilderink on sax. They are kept in check by bassist Marijn van de Ven and drummer Denis Baeten, but the relations between them are by no means fixed: those will be fought on stage.

After a successful first three years (recorded two EP’s, won the Erasmus Jazz Prize, played at North Sea Jazz Festival, toured all over Europe, opened for the Ploctones), it’s time for a full-fledged debut album.

This album will come out in spring 2019 and will search for a common place between modern jazz, absurdism, groove, and most of all: freedom.
