BAB SEBTA by Randa Maroufi (2019, 19 min)

Bab Sebta (Ceuta’s gate) consists of a series of reconstructed situations based on observations made on the border of Ceuta, a Spanish enclave on Moroccan soil providing the scene for an intense trafficking of manufactured goods, sold at discounted prices. Every day, thousands of people work there.

Biography:

Randa Maroufi (B.1987,Casablanca) is an artist and filmmaker. Her work has been presented in group surveys at intuitions like Museo de Reina Sofía, Spain (2021); New Museum, NY (2020); MA Museum, Quebec (2019); Biennale de Dakar, Senegal; Boghossian Foundation, Brussels, Belgium (2018), Sharjah Biennial, Lebanon; Videonale Bonn, Germany (2017); International Film Festival Rotterdam, The Netherlands (2016); African Photography Meeting, Bamako, Mali (2015); the Marrakech Biennale, Morocco (2014), etc.She has received many awards for her film Le Park (2015), and Bab Sebta (2019). She currently lives and works in Paris.


Sewing Borders by Mohamad Hafeda (2018, 25 min)

Sewing Borders is a short movie that Mohamad Hafeda developed collectively with a group of Beirut residents with differing experiences of displacement. They studied maps of the city and of the region, and, through their sewing skills, they negotiated and narrated notions of spatial, temporal and historic borders.

Biography:

Mohamad Hafeda is an artist, designer, writer, editor and filmmaker. He holds a PhD in Architectural Design from the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London. He co-founded Febrik, a collaborative platform for participatory art and design research working on issues of refuge and spatial rights. Hafeda also lectures in architecture and design at Leeds Beckett University and Westminster University.


Terras by Maya Da-Rin (2009, 74 min)

On the triple border between Brazil, Colombia and Peru, the twin towns of Letícia and Tabatinga form an urban island surrounded by the Amazon forest. Located somewhere between documentary, ethnographic film and essay, Terras is a meditation on the concept of frontiers, following the constant coming and going of people along the border and slowly revealing the presence and influence of it on the daily lives of its inhabitants.

Biography :

Maya Da-Rin (b.1979, Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian filmmaker based in Rio de Janeiro whose works includes fiction films, documentaries and video installations. Her work has been shown in festivals such as Locarno Film Festival ; Toronto Film Festival , Rotterdam Film Festival , New Directors/New Films Festival and has been presented in museums such as MoMA and New Museum, having received numerous awards. She was invited to take part at the Cannes Cinéfondation Residence and at the LABoral Art Residence in Spain.
