Programme destiné au public autour de l'exposition de l'artiste Deimantas Narkevičius - Anachronisms (24.09.2022 - 15.01.2023)

En collaboration avec Esch2022, Capitale européenne de la culture, la Konschthal Esch organise une grande exposition rétrospective des films de l’artiste contemporain Deimantas Narkevičius. D’origine lituanienne, le travail de Narkevičius propose une vision unique, entre documentaire et perspective autobiographique, de l’époque post-soviétique de son pays natal. Après avoir participé en 1998 à la biennale européenne d’art contemporain MANIFESTA 2, Narkevičius revient au Luxembourg cette fois-ci pour retracer à Esch-sur-Alzette une œuvre cinématographique qui continue à évoluer dans les contextes géopolitiques actuels.Le travail de Deimantas Narkevičius convoque les fantômes et témoins du passé pour les confronter à cette nouvelle société lituanienne, tout à fait consciente d’un passé récent, mais en affirmation de sa nouvelle identité européenne. (Kaunas 2022 Capitale Européenne de la Culture en est exemplaire.)A l’occasion de cette exposition, l'intérieur de la Konschthal Esch est de nouveau transformée en collaboration avec le bureau d'architecture 2001 en charge de la scénographie du projet avec l'artiste.Dans le cadre de cette exposition, la Konschthal Esch a co-produit le film Wailing Waters, dont la première aura lieu le jour de l’ouverture de l’exposition.

Public programme within the framework of the exhibition Anachronisms by Deimantas Narkevičius - (24.09.2022 - 15.01.2023)

In collaboration with Esch2022, European Capital of Culture, the Konschthal Esch is hosting a major retrospective exhibition of films by contemporary artist Deimantas Narkevicius. Originally from Lithuania, Narkevičius’work offers a unique vision, between documentary and autobiographical perspective, of the post-Soviet era of his native country. After participating in the European Biennial of Contemporary Art MANIFESTA 2 in 1998, Narkevicius returns to Luxembourg for this major exhibition in Esch, which traces a cinematic work that continues to evolve in today’s geopolitical contexts.The work of Deimantas Narkevičius summons the ghosts and witnesses of the past to confront them with this new Lithuanian society, fully aware of a recent past, but asserting its new European identity. (Kaunas 2022 European Capital of Culture is an example).On the occasion of this exhibition, the scenography by the architects practice 2001 in collaboration with the artist once again transforms the building of the Konschthal Esch.As part of this exhibition, Konschthal Esch co-produced the film ‘Wailing Waters’, the first of which takes place on the opening day of the exhibition.
