Tina Gillen in conversation with Eva Wittocx

Eva Wittocx, a curator and art critic from Belgium, has been following the work of Tina Gillen for over than twenty years. During this talk Tina Gillen and Eva Wittocx will talk about the evolution of her practise as an artist, by both looking at different topics that are addressed and focussing on the use and language of the medium of painting.

En résonnance avec les expositions monographiques des artistes Hsia-Fei Chang, Julia Cottin et Tina Gillen, la Konschthal Esch invite Nina Volz pour une présentation d’AWARE: Archives of Women Artists, Research & Exhibitions, et des dispositifs mis en place depuis 2014 par l’association pour soutenir les artistes femmes confirmées et émergeantes dans leur production, leur diffusion et la reconnaissance dans l’histoire de l’art et ceci à travers le monde.

En résonnance avec les thématiques abordées dans l’œuvre de Tina Gillen et du langage visuel de ses peintures, la Konschthal propose une sélection de 3 films dans le cadre de son exposition « Flying Mercury ».

In line with the themes of Tina Gillen's work and the visual language of her paintings, the Konschthal is showing a selection of three films as part of her "Flying Mercury" exhibition.

Josée Hansen und Wolfgang Ullrich sprechen über das Fotoprojekt „New Life of a Woman“ von Hsia-Fei Chang, das nicht nur für den Ausstellungsraum gemacht ist, sondern ursprünglich in den Sozialen Medien entstand. Wie sehr verdankt es sich daher Praktiken, die dort üblich sind, macht diese aber auch eigens zum Thema?

The Painting That Knew Too Much: Tina Gillen and Alfred Hitchcock
To a large extent, Tina Gillen’s work can be described as a pictorial take on cinematic images. Apart from works that show a fascination for decors and sets, she also made some explicit references to films by Alfred Hitchcock.
This lecture deals with some of these references, discussing them in the context of the ubiquitous fascination for Hitchcock among many artists of the last decades who work in various media
